Insomniac

As Lead Designer, I was responsible for shaping the entire visual and interactive experience:

  • Look & Feel: Defined the visual identity of the metaverse, from UI to environmental design
  • Motion Design: Directed animations and transitions to enhance immersion and energy
  • Design System: Built a scalable, modular system to support rapid iteration and cross-platform consistency
  • UX Design: Helped craft intuitive flows for onboarding, social interaction, and gameplay mechanics

I worked closely with developers, 3D artists, Lead UX and stakeholders to ensure the experience was cohesive, performant, and aligned with the brand’s vision.

The Challenge

In the wake of COVID-19, live events were canceled, and fans were left without a way to connect or celebrate music together. At the same time, the concept of the “metaverse” was gaining traction as the next frontier in digital interaction.

Insomniac wanted to recreate the energy and excitement of their outdoor music festivals in a virtual world, accessible from anywhere.

The goal was to build a social, immersive, and interactive experience that would allow fans to enjoy live music, connect with friends, and rediscover the joy of shared experiences all from home.

The Solution

We designed and built a metaverse social game that blended the thrill of live EDM concerts with the interactivity of online gaming and the warmth of social connection.

Key Features:

  • Virtual concert stages with real-time music streaming and synchronized visual effects
  • Customizable avatars and social hubs for dancing, chatting, and exploring
  • Mini-games and challenges that encouraged cooperation and competition
  • Mobile companion app for event updates, social features, and score tracking

The experience was designed to be family-friendly, accessible, and visually stunning, capturing the spirit of a music festival while offering new layers of interactivity.
