Booktower

As Lead Designer, I was responsible for the full visual and experiential direction of the app:

  • Look & Feel: Defined the visual language to reflect both the building’s historical elegance and modern renovation.
  • Motion & Interaction Design: Directed animations and transitions to create a smooth, intuitive AR experience.
  • 3D Design: Oversaw the modeling and integration of historical architectural elements in AR.
  • UX Design: Crafted user flows for onboarding, navigation, and content interaction to ensure accessibility for all age groups.

I worked closely with developers, 3D artists, historians, and the client to ensure the experience was both accurate and engaging.

The Challenge

The client had recently completed a stunning renovation of a historic building and wanted a way to engage potential buyers and visitors by showcasing its rich architectural and cultural heritage. Traditional brochures and signage weren’t enough they needed something immersive, interactive, and self-guided.

The Solution

We designed and developed an augmented reality app that allowed users to explore the building at their own pace using their smartphones or tablets.

Key Features:

  • AR Hotspots: Visitors could scan markers throughout the building to trigger interactive content.
  • Multimedia Layers: Each hotspot included historical facts, photo galleries, and archival videos.
  • 3D Visualizations: Reconstructed historical elements in 3D to show how the building looked in different eras.
  • Self-Guided Navigation: Users could follow a curated path or explore freely.

The app brought the building’s story to life, blending education, storytelling, and technology into a seamless experience.

Results

  • Client Satisfaction: The client was thrilled with the final product and praised its polish and usability.
  • Visitor Engagement: Tour participation increased significantly, with users spending more time exploring the building.
  • Future Expansion: The success of this app led to plans for similar AR experiences in other properties.
